Rogier Bosman
(1974)
Our shelves were full of Chaplin films. Over the last few years I’ve recovered them for what I thought were research purposes, but as it turns out, the most important thing became exposing my son to them, so that he can grow up with an idea of this timeless artform. Art, humour, beauty en melancholy for the next (and every) generation!
Rogier studied French Horn and Music Education at the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, as well as Composition and Arranging at the Conservatory of Rotterdam. He regularly writes and arranges for orchestras and ensembles like The Gelders Orkest, RO-Theater, Toneelgroep Oostpool, the Residentie Orkest, and the Metropole Orkest. He has also done arrangements for soloists like Karin Bloemen, Huub van der Lubbe, Chantal Jantzen, Wouter Hamel, Ruben Hein, and Brigitte Kaandorp, among many others. In 2011 Rogier composed the opening for the 5th of May Concert on the Amstel, where he also arranged music for Alain Clark and soprano Annemarie Kremer. Rogier also composed and performed the closing composition during the Koningsvaart (2013) in honour of the crowning of King Willem Alexander of The Netherlands. In 2018 Rogier composed the music for the successful theater-spectacle “De Stormruiter”.
