Schërzo

With their theater shows Släpstick and The Roaring Twenties, the five virtuoso musical clowns of Släpstick made an international splash. Sold-out venues from the Netherlands to New Zealand, standing ovations, and a shower of awards were the result. Now they return with Schërzo, their quirky, whirlwind, and hilarious take on classical music. Expect slapstick comedy with beautiful and moving music, where everything goes hilariously wrong but ultimately falls into place.

Ho Ho Christmas Show

In their own bold and chaotic way, the gentlemen dive into the sacred Christmas celebration at the end of the year. Expect a Christmas show like you’ve never seen before. Sure, you’ll hear familiar hits like Silent Night and The Shepherds, Let It Snow, and Jimmy the Weihnachtscowboy. But the meeting between Santa Claus and Saint Nicholas turns into a fierce brawl, and Oliver Hardy gets stuck in the chimney. And do you know who can juggle oliebollen the best, how many trombones Santa can balance on his chin, and what Charlie Chaplin is doing in the living nativity scene? You’ll find out all this in the one and only Ho Ho Christmas Show for the whole family, where a traditional Dutch snowball fight is, of course, not to be missed.

Häppy HOUR

Of course, at a distance of 1.5 meters, but it feels much closer! The show ‘Häppy Hour’ is based on the successful show ‘Släpstick’ with which the music theater group of the same name toured France, Germany, England, Denmark, and New Zealand in recent years. The international success of Släpstick is not surprising: Släpstick delivers musical comedy for all ages in a show where language plays no role.

ALL HANDS ON DECK

(IN COLLABORATION WITH SCAPINO BALLET)

With All hands on deck, two companies join forces for a spectacular collaboration. Scapino Ballet and Wëreldbänd bring out the best in each other in a performance full of wonderful combinations of dance, humor, music, and theater. The five members of the music theater group Wëreldbänd are not only accomplished musicians but also masterful variety artists. Together with the dancers of Scapino, they embark on a turbulent sea voyage full of bizarre and absurd situations in All hands on deck. Choreographer Ed Wubbe sends a colorful company to sea with singing dancers and dancing musical comedians. The sailor’s life brings beautiful encounters and entertainment but also takes its toll. As the journey progresses, the line between fantasy and reality blurs, and life on board becomes increasingly surreal. This is a performance about longing, happiness, farewell, love, hardships, and homesickness. Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and Släpstick embark on a surprising collaboration that makes all kinds of combinations of dance, humor, slapstick, music, and theater possible.

Playground

Crates full of musical instruments, bouncy balls, and trampolines are being loaded back into the truck headed for Parktheater. Because anything is possible in the playground of the Wereldband: the Beach Boys on the Loosdrecht lakes, Schubert in the air, and Popeye from Brazil. With ‘Playground,’ the Wereldband brings even more instruments, more musical discoveries, and more sketches into play. The music and humor of this acrobatic band are surprising and infectious. Their show spins, swings, amazes, moves, startles, and sounds like a charm. They just don’t seem to age. Could it be due to the combination of music and humor?
