NICE AND WARM

‘Lekker Warm’ was the debut show of the Wereldband. They toured with it in 2005 and 2006. Three violins, double bass, sax, accordion; tuba, trumpet, trombone, xun, three guitars; jaw harp, mandolin, bass guitar, cymbal; kalimba, cajon, banjo; clarinet, percussion, egg, and vocals. In their debut program ‘Lekker Warm’, the six musicians of the Wereldband present their unique vision on the phenomenon of ‘world music’ using over 30 different instruments. Influenced by music from all corners of the globe, the Wereldband fosters intercontinental unity, opens doors, pokes fun at traditions, and embraces raw emotion. Their boundless enthusiasm and musical craftsmanship transcend nationalities and generations. Give in to the infectious energy and let yourself be swept away in a whirlwind of music from every corner of the globe: from Spanish Flamenco and Romanian gypsy sounds to Irish reel, and from Surinamese kaseko via Mexican mariachi to the Peking Opera… A zany musical cabaret spectacle from the Marx Brothers of world music!
