With All hands on deck, two companies join forces for a spectacular collaboration. Scapino Ballet and Wëreldbänd bring out the best in each other in a performance full of wonderful combinations of dance, humor, music, and theater. The five members of the music theater group Wëreldbänd are not only accomplished musicians but also masterful variety artists. Together with the dancers of Scapino, they embark on a turbulent sea voyage full of bizarre and absurd situations in All hands on deck. Choreographer Ed Wubbe sends a colorful company to sea with singing dancers and dancing musical comedians. The sailor’s life brings beautiful encounters and entertainment but also takes its toll. As the journey progresses, the line between fantasy and reality blurs, and life on board becomes increasingly surreal. This is a performance about longing, happiness, farewell, love, hardships, and homesickness.
Scapino Ballet Rotterdam and Släpstick embark on a surprising collaboration that makes all kinds of combinations of dance, humor, slapstick, music, and theater possible.
