Jon Bittman

(1985)

“I grew up in America, but in the summers we always went to my Palestinian grandmother in Israel. She only spoke Romanian, so I couldn’t talk to her. But she had one VHS tape in English: Modern Times, so we always watched it together. This created our bond, language played no role here.”
Jon is an American-born, Romanian-Israeli woodwind specialist. He studied classical clarinet at the Mason Gross School of Music (USA). He then graduated cum laude with his bachelor’s degree from the Utrecht Conservatory, and later also completed his Master’s cum laude at the Codarts Jazz Academy in Rotterdam. Jon has performed at many prestigious jazz venues such as the Bimhuis, Jazz in Duketown, toured the world with the Balkan party band Amariszi, and won international awards with his hip-hop group Panda Zooicide. Jon is also a highly acclaimed studio musician who played saxophone and clarinet solos on Caro Emerald’s multi-platinum album ‘Scenes from the Cutting Room Floor.’
