Sl\u00e4pstick is the music theater group, which has been in the Dutch and Flemish large and medium-sized theaters with its own and co-productions since 2003. The group is hard to compare with others: they operate at the intersection of physical comedy, choreography, and music. Sl\u00e4pstick’s musical abilities in particular are much vaunted: collectively, the men have mastered basically every conceivable instrument, quite a few of them at the highest level.<\/p>\n

To date, Sl\u00e4pstick has developed five original productions and collaborated with the likes of Scapino Ballet, Brigitte Kaandorp, the Residentie Orkest, and Ellen ten Damme. Sl\u00e4pstick played a major role in productions such as Stormruiter (2018) and the Weltweihnachtscircus in Stuttgart (2017). For their latest self-titled production ‘Sl\u00e4pstick’ (premiered January 2017), a format was developed in which the group felt right at home. This feeling was confirmed by both the press and the audience. To boost internationalization, Sl\u00e4pstick performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August 2017, where they promptly won the Spirit of the Fringe Award<\/em> for the most compelling debut among 2,300 other companies. The show then played in the UK, Germany, Denmark, France, and New Zealand.<\/p>\n

Sch\u00ebrzo is the group’s most recent production. The international premiere took place at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2023. This performance also won awards and Sl\u00e4pstick was surprised with the Seoul Arts Award <\/i>and subsequently played in China and South Korea.<\/p>\n

In the spring of 2026, Sch\u00ebrzo will tour the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and France.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Sold-out venues from the Netherlands to New Zealand, standing ovations, and a shower of awards were the result. Now they return with Sch\u00ebrzo, their quirky, whirlwind, and hilarious take on classical music.
